In the coming years, India is projected to have more than 37 million diabetics by 2010 and over 57 million in 2025 In India, the earliest mention of the use of medicinal plants has been made in the Atharva Veda, one of the oldest repositories of human knowledge. As far back as 4,000 BC and even earlier, Ayurveda, an ancient Hindu art of medicines and of prolonging life, has been believed to possess a status of its development. The whole credit for standardizing this system of medicines goes to well known, renowned personalities viz., Charak, the Physician and Sushruta, the Surgeon. Their well noted works written so long ago that these are still greeted by the leading authorities of the western countries. However, the contribution of Dhanwantri, the pioneer God of Medicine, destroyer of senility, disease and death descended on the Mother Earth, cannot be ruled out. He was, infact, teacher of Susruta and his other colleagues and is known as Progenitor of Ayurveda. Medicinal plants not only play an important role in human life but also play a pivotal role in animal life, especially in rural areas. Rural people of India living in about 6 lakh villages and the tribal dwelling in forests always utilize medicinal plants for preventing and curing various ailments and diseases. 1. Don't seek happiness. If you seek it, you won't find it, because seeking is the antithesis of happiness. Happiness is ever elusive, but freedom from unhappiness is attainable now, by facing what is, rather than making up stories about it. 2. The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it. Be aware of the thoughts you are thinking. Separate them from the situation, which is always neutral, which always is as it is. There is the situation or the fact, and here are my thoughts about it. Instead of making up stories, stay with the facts. For example, "I am ruined" is a story. It limits you and prevents you from taking effective action. "I have 50 cents left in my bank account" is a fact. Facing facts is always empowering. 3. See if you can catch the voice in your head, perhaps in the very moment it complains about something, and recognize it for what it is: the voice of the ego, no more than a thought. Whenever you notice that voice, you will also realize that you are not the voice, but the one, who is aware of it. In fact, you are the awareness that is aware of the voice. In the background, there is the awareness. In the foreground, there is the voice, the thinker. In this way you are becoming free of the ego, free of the unobserved mind.

There are seven olive trees in Israel that are over 3000 years old and they are all healthy and continue to produce olives, and in Israel scientists confirm that throughout are tens of ancient olive trees that are 1500-2000 years old & the ones in Gethsemane Garden in Jerusalem have witnessed the presence of Jesus Christ.

Acidity refers to the excess secretion of acid by the gastric glands of the stomach. The stomach secretes hydrochloric acid that is responsible for proper functioning of the digestive system. A normal level of acid is required in the stomach for proper digestion of the complex foods. In Ayurveda Sciatica is known as Gridhrasi as gait of the affected person resembles that of an Eagle's walk & the inflamed nerve appears like Eagle's beak, hence the term Gridhrasi is used for it. Sciatica is a pain resulting from irritation of the sciatic nerve. Sciatica pain is typically felt from the low back to behind the thigh and radiating down below the knee. The sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body and begins from nerve roots in the lumbar spinal cord in the low back and extends through the buttock area to send nerve endings down the lower limb.   Ayurvedic Management of Sciatica Diet: Pulses, beans, and fried foods should be prohibited. Curds and other sour substances should be avoided. Saffron, in small quantities, should be mixed with milk and given to the patient to drink. Life Style: Gentle exercise of the leg is advised. Exposure to damp and cold should be avoided. Swimming in warm water is a good exercise for legs. Yoga: Halasana -Improves circulation of blood and lymph, stimulates the immune system and releases stress and tension in the lower back including the spine, Shalabhasana-Strongly strengthens the core body and the low back muscles. It also stimulates the endocrine, nervous and reproductive systems. Bhujangasana- Develops the strength & flexibility in the spine and rejuvenates spinal nerves. All these yoga postures should be undertaken under the supervision of yoga expert. Ayurvedic formulations: Herbs like Raasna, Aswagandha, Dasamoola, Satavari & Kuth. Yograj guggulu, Rasana Saptak Kwath, Vishgarbh Tail & Mahanarayan Tail gives good results if given in correct dose. Panchakarma therapies: Abhyang (massage with specific herbal oils) Nadi Swedan (medicated steam bath), Elakizhi (herbal leaf bundle massage), Pizhichil (medicated oil bath), Kati vasthi(a treatment done on to the back to decrease spinal compression), Vasti (medicated enema) Virechan (purgation) therapies of panchkarma are tremendously useful for treating the underlying cause of the sciatica without any side effects.

Parsley is the world's most popular herb. It derives its name from the Greek word meaning "rock celery". Parsley actually is a storehouse of nutrients, than just being a decorative garnish. Parsley is native to the Mediterranean region of Southern Europe. While it has been cultivated for more than 2,000 years, parsley was used medicinally prior to being consumed as a food. The ancient Greeks held parsley to be sacred, using it to not only adorn victors of athletic contests, but also for decorating the tombs of the deceased. The practice of using parsley as a garnish actually has a long history that can be traced back to the civilization of the ancient Romans. The two most popular types of parsley are curly parsley and Italian flat leaf parsley. The Italian variety has a more fragrant and less bitter taste than the curly variety. There is also another type of parsley known as turnip-rooted (or Hamburg) that is cultivated for its roots, which resemble salsify and burdock. Parsley belongs to the Umbelliferae family of plants, and its Latin name is Petroselinum crispum.
