Banana contains a type of protein, tryptophan that is converted into serotonin in the body. Thus helps in overcoming depression and make you feel happy.

Banana is one of the most known fruits. It is a valuable source of Vitamin-A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin-C and potassium. The fruit averages 125 gm. of which approximately 75% is water and 25% dry matter. Banana contains sucrose, fructose and glucose. Banana contains a type of protein, tryptophan that is converted into serotonin in the body. Thus helps in overcoming depression and make you feel happy. Banana contains 116 kcal, 27.2 gm of carbohydrates, 1.2 gm of proteins, 0.3 mg of phosphorus, 0.36 mg of iron, Potassium 88 mg. 36.6 mg of sodium per 100 gm edible portion.
Root is a tonic for liver and prevents scurvy. Used for Anaemia, Glandular disorders, Diarrhoea.
Stem is helpful for treating ulcers, Quenches thirst in cholera. Used to cure Asthma, stops bleeding of wounds & cuts, it is an antidote of opium poisoning. Checks hair loss & used for treatment of piles.
Leaves are useful remedy in severe inflammation of the eye, Helps in healing wounds & ulcer, Helps in curing headaches when applied over forehead. The green leaves make a useful remedy for inflamed eyes. Coated with bland oil leaves are applied to wounds & ulcers. The young leaves are recommended as a cool dressing for headaches.
Flowers checks excessive bleeding during menstruation, Used in diabetics, the juice of the flowers is given in menstrual problems. The cooked flowers are eaten in diabetes.
Fruits are used in diabetes, diarrhoea, indigestion, flatulence, acidity, dysentery, Soothes & protects alimentary tract. Promotes flow of urine, a cool laxative, Used in Anaemic patients. Relieves sore throat, Helps in checking haemoptysis, also cures inflamed colon & diseases of rectum. In the form of powder the ripe banana is recommended for Diarrhoea, indigestion, flatulence, acidity & scurvy. The ripe fruit soothes alimentary tract, relieves inflammation and promotes flow of urine. The ripe fruit is used with good results in inflamed colon.
Plant Juice is taken when the plant is about 1 meter high, it is rooted out, and the whole plant is baked in the oven. The juice is pressed out and mixed with pure honey and used to cure asthma, one cup full everyday. The juice extracted from the trunk by crushing the chapped plant is used for treating tuberculosis. It should be used as five cup in a day. It is also recommended in nephritis and is a good solution for falling hair. The extracted juice of the plant quenches thirst in cholera. This juice is also given in nervous disorders, hysteria, diarrhoea, jaundice. It is an antidote of opium poisoning; it is also applied over wounds and cuts to check bleeding.
Root juice is used as tonic for liver and to prevent or cure scurvy when mixed with a little honey. It is used in the case of inflamed mucous membranes of the urethra and vagina. Also prescribed for glandular disease, a cold infusion of the root is recommended as enema in diarrhoea. The ash of the banana plant or stem is useful for ulcers.
